Margin Call- VOD
Mike: Margin Call has been having a successful run in theaters but it also has been available on VOD at the same time. We decided to check it out on VOD, and it was well worth the eight bucks we spent. I thought Margin Call was one of the smartest films of the year, with realistic performances from Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci, Spock, et al. Sometimes, when Hollywood takes on Wall Street, the characters are a little too slick and one-dimensional. Margin Call gives a lot more depth to its major characters, giving fascinating insight into how these people with a dangerous amount of power and control actually think and operate.
Erica: Not only is this a timely movie, it is a well done Wall Street movie. I think Tucci and Spacey did a great job in their roles and this movie was the most realistic one based on the 1% the people at Zuccoti park are marching about. We got to see not only their work lives or them going to their expensive houses, but that they have flaws too. They are not perfect and we got a great look at the dark side of their lives. This film takes place over the course of one single 24 hour time period and I think that adds to it. It shows more than seeing things unravel over the course of a month or a year. It is a well done film with an Ensemble Cast. It is definitely worth checking out.
